People looking at Davie homes for sale often ask how they can get involved in the community. An excellent opportunity is coming up in February, 2016 when the city holds its 79th Annual Orange Blossom Festival, Parade and Rodeo.
What is the Orange Blossom Festival, Parade and Rodeo?
The free Festival is being held on Saturday and Sunday, February 27 and 28, 2016. It is being organized by the Town of Davie Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department. Over 250 displays will be set up along Orange Drive from Davie Road west to SW 66th Terrace. Orange Drive will be closed to support the festival atmosphere.
Booths will display arts and crafts, information from local non-profits and businesses. There will be free musical entertainment, an animal farm, bounce house, rides, a climbing wall and more. Kiwanis is sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Saturday at the Davie Moose Lodge. The Davie Woman’s Club will hold a Strawberry Shortcake Festival on Orange Drive in the main festival location.
The Orange Blossom Parade will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am. You can attend free concerts on both festival days in the afternoon. The Davie Pro Rodeo will start at 7:30 pm on Saturday and at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Learn more details from the festival flyer.
How to Get Involved
- Promote Your Business as a Vendor. If you have arts and crafts to sell, or you help to promote a non-profit, consider becoming a vendor for the festival. This vendor application (the 2016 version is no longer available) will give you more information about entrance fees and rules.
- Support the Festival as a Sponsor. There are many sponsorship opportunities, starting with a $500 sponsorship as a Marching Band, Rodeo Bandstand or Festival sponsor and going up to the Title Sponsor. Each sponsor will get recognition at the Festival depending on sponsorship type. All sponsors will be able to display a banner during the festival, and each will receive a display area to promote their business, along with free tickets for the Rodeo. Review this sponsor application (the 2016 version is no longer available) for more information.
- Attend the Festival. There’s a lot to enjoy with the free admission to the festival, and you’ll get to meet local Davie residents along with attendees and vendors from the surrounding area.
